Lady is a real squirrel who was raised by the authors after a hurricane with the assistance of the local Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Lady was returned to the wild once she was old enough to take care of herself. Iris still sees Lady almost everyday. They are wonderful friends. Sharing Lady's life has provided Iris with some of her fondest memories.
